(Solved) Live Cd Desktop Disappears
« on: January 10, 2012, 12:44:44 PM »
I am trying to install the 2011.9 KDE version of PCLinux
I can run the live CD and it boots and gets all of the way to the desktop
then the monitor goes blank ( the back light is still on and I have a mouse pointer on the screen )
I just can't see anything else to make any changes.

I am sure that its the video card that needs to be set up but I can't get there.

If I try to run the CD in the video safe mode the same thing occurs.

Will someone please refresh my memory as to how to boot to a terminal log in
on the live CD so that I can use XFdrake ?

Hi Ramchu,

at grub screen, press F6 Options, add a 3 at the end of the grub boot line.

How much memory is installed ?  The symptoms are those of low ram ...
