I'll go one further. Google's web servers all run Linux. Since day one.

That is exactly what that means. It is a Windows program running in a wine container.

If you have a gmail account or any other google account you can access picasaweb.google.com (upload/manage photos etc.) without having to install picasa on your computer. Click on the Photos tab at the top of any Google/gmail account page.

Tried that last night and it works without problems - move, delete, copy, go editing in Picnik, no OS question whatsoever.

When I used google in the past I could copy / move / delete the photos via browser... I think it's still possible... Can someone confirm that? Mark maybe one of Your add-ons blocks the buttons?

I can confirm it. Did it last night with Firefox on PCLOS KDE fully updated. Have addblock plus installed, but not NoScript on this machine.

Bingo!  That's it!  picasaweb.google.com did the trick!  Perhaps I navigated to the incorrect site within Google?

Thanks.  That was the key, picasaWEB.google.com.  That organizes folders, etc.  I was trying to acces picasa.google.com and geting nowhere.
