How to transfer files iTunes to aTunes via USB
« on: January 07, 2012, 02:28:09 AM »
I've lots of music files in iTunes on Win XP which I copied to USB and then attempted to import into aTunes.  So far I can't see how to do it.

Any thanks much appreciated.

Can you see the files on your USB? Not much info to go on.

Sorry about the lack of info.

Yes I can see the files when I insert the USB stick using dolphin.

Once when I went import and the file choice came up the USB was displayed, it appeared as though the files were copied but I can't see them anywhere.  I also couldn't find the safely remove  thingy.

When I tried again the USB is recognised in device notifier but not the import file choice.

Thanks for your time.

The files have an extension of either .m4a or .m4p. I don't know where they went, either. You'll need to look for them. Open a terminal and enter locate .m4a | less. If that shows nothing, then enter locate .m4p | less. Make a note of where the files are.

Try rebooting without the USB attached to the computer. When disconnecting the USB from the computer, you need to safely remove or eject the USB device for it to consistently read correctly when you reinsert it.

Might be too long for a reply - but those commands both give me:

I really have no idea what you're seeing or what you're saying.
