Maybe you can rig up a makeshift tripod for your phone to steady it and free your hands. I'll be watching for it, whatever you do!

Yeah, I'm thinking about how I can do this.  It certainly will be unconventional, but if it works...)

Would have been nice if they hadn't locked it down, though.

There is good news for you, as long as they make good on their promise:

All the hacked gadgets in this house where hacked after the guarantee expired and/or they were not funny anymore  :)
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Yes, by all means, enjoy the product, which i am sure is quite nice.  I'm just hopping to have a KDE tablet one day.  Come to think of it, someone is probably going to figure out how to install KDE on this device.  When they do, I think I may pick one up myself. ;)

I like Android, but yeah, KDE would be cool and I'd have KMyMoney.  I wish I had that app on the Android tablet for sure.:)

The KDE guys have been doing a lot of work on making KDE tablet compliant.  Qt itself has a lot of touch specific optimizations.  I have a feeling there is a KDE tablet in my future.  Maybe even a PCLinuxOS one. ;)

I believe Mer is currently working on that right now.

I'm with you on this. I love my iPhone, but I'd much rather have KDE running on my device.

Okay, I shot a quick video.

TabletReview.3g2

I'm going to attach it to a blog post for the coming week.  then again, I may not.  Please let me know what you think.  I did this with a cell phone camera and on the first take.  I figured out how o set up so I could hold the tablet with both hands.

I may reshoot or...maybe i need a decent camera?

Anyhow, give it a look and let me know.

Well, that may interest George, but I don't have one.  I'm holding out for a Nook Tablet.  At least that's my choice so far.

You may wanna wait until the Google Nexus tablet is released. It's supposed to come out sometime in the first 1/2 of 2012, possibly as early as April. It is slated to cost $199, and may be the Apple-killer with Google behind it.

Transformer is actually an MTP device, so you need to install from Synaptic mtpfs

Open Terminal, go su, copy & paste the following:

1.
Code: [Select]
mkdir /media/transformer
2.
Code: [Select]
chmod 775 /media/transformer
3.
Code: [Select]
mtpfs -o allow_other /media/transformer
Type exit.

Still in Terminal:

Code: [Select]
cd /media/transformer

than ls and you should see something like this:

Quote
Alarms/
Android/
asus/
BeyondPod/
bluetooth/
burstlyImageCache/
burstlyVideoCache/
com.appyet.feedplus/
data/
DCIM/
demo epub.epub*
demo epub.epub.png*
Download/
droidreader/
Gorillaz Vs. The Cure_ Lullaby for Gorillaz.mp4*
gReader/
Jane_s Addiction _Jane Says.mp4*
kindle/
layar/
LOST.DIR/
Meecal/
Movies/
Music/
myalbum/
My documents/
Notifications/
opera/
Pictures/

--snip--

Now open your file manager and go to /media/transformer:

You can drag & drop... ;)

To remove device-open Terminal, go su, copy & paste:

Code: [Select]
umount mtpfs
HTH

I FINALLY sat down and ud ou method.  BINGO!  Asus Transformer now being read on my PCLinuxOS system!!  I'm gonna copy the directions so I can do this at work with laptop.:)  Many thanks!:)
