My point is that leaving old bits of this and that in the system, especially old bits of failed remasters will increase the installed size and start to cause problems with the remastering process. I tried to remaster my personal system once without a cleaning and the result was a failed ISO. Not pretty! :P

Oh I understand that problem ..... all I was saying is that it seems not to be related to the freeze problem, as the freeze occurred when no remastering was taking place.  ;)

Oh! :o I hadn't meant to imply that. :o I only meant that a good clean up would help in remastering. :)

I think we don't as yet have enough info to pinpoint the cause of the freeze.

Yep ......  keeping an eye on the temps and the resources used should give some indication of what might be causing it.

How much RAM do you have? What size swap partition do you have? Did you run bleachbit and bleachbit-root before attempting the remaster?

Please do respond to these questions.

Made a USB out of my remaster and it doesn't seem to work. I have a successful USB from another remaster so I don't feel the problem is a personal error on making or using it. Will try burning a DVD later.

Need a couple of days rest from this but will be back. Thank you all for your help so far.
