Help in testing TEA Text Editor
« on: January 01, 2012, 07:56:04 AM »
I have just built Tea 31.2.0, a "text editor for UNIX-like systems and Windows. With an ultimate small size TEA provides you hundreds of functions." It provides a wide range of text-processing functions (over 100) and syntax highlighting. I need help testing the 64-bit RPM package. The package will need lib64aspell15 and lib64hunspell1.2_0.

Feedbacks are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thanks, Leiche. It may look rather odd especially when I am so used to another editor but I like it in such a way that ... for example, on the side tab, Mango, it look very much like a File Manager but it also serve as an Open dialog box, and goes nicely with Save As (especially if you want on another folder).

I am still exploring the features. I hope that I will be able to test it on codes as well but I am not a programmer so I can't really say much on that respect.

Hi Archie,

installed TEA without issue, running it ....
At first lauch from terminal have got this output:

Quote
$ tea
error: empty dic file
Hash Manager Error : 2

I suppose "dic" is for "dictionary", so I try to:
- open a new document
- wrote the word "test"
- highlight the word "test"
Top Menu -> Functions -> Add to dictionary

resulted in segfault:
Quote
Floating point exception

However the error disappeared after entering the "tune" tab (at right of the windows) and editing the "Functions" (without applying and changes) changing the "Spell checker engine" to aspell instead of the default hunspell.

generally speaking ... not of my taste  ...

Mine neither but I'd have to admit that with so much packed into a small footprint is what makes it interesting.

It could also view ODTs and other files but the viewer was more on the source of the file rather than the output which made it difficult to discern the tree structure of the file. I'll test the syntax highlighting if any.

Also, if the tabs on the right side where either on the bottom or on the top-right hand side, it might appear more sensible. It was hard to read the text and it appears there's no configuration to relocate the tabs.
