Sorry your order was so fouled up.  I'd be very angry too.
I got the one machine I ordered with the correct specs and it was cleaned before I got it. It all works and while I haven't installed any additional/different software (I will be installing PCLOS), it does appear to be as advertised.  Good luck in getting a successful resolution.

I understand that sometimes things go aery, but where is quality control here.  I have calmed down since I opened both packages, amazing what a few good cups of coffee can do! I am off to go try to contact them, I hope I am not caller 1000 by now :)

Hyper threading was shut off in the bios. I will have to go into the bios and turn it on and see what it does.

Matter in fact they have the bios password locked, on both machines I got. I do not know if they are all like that or not, but if so you can do the following.  To reset the password lock you can not just remove the on-board battery, this doesn't work.  You will need to unplug the machine and make sure the led on the motherboard is out.  There is a "GREEN" jumper to the left of the battery as you face the front of the machine.  Remove the jumper and power the machine on. Once it has booted shut it down, remove the power from the machine and place the jumper back on like it was before removing.  Now when you power up you can access the bios without needing the password  To access the bios at startup press "F10".

Sheesh next time I will make 2 pots of coffee and pour the whole darn bottle into it.  I called RedTag, man they must have a lot of folks calling in. I was caller number 44, by the time I got to caller 10 I got the message that I had called after their office was closed, got the please call back between this time and that.  What happened to the part that they kept repeating about "You're call is important to us."  Well I guess that it will give me sometime to cool down before I call them Monday.

UPDATE:

I finally got a hold (55 minutes on hold) of a manager today about the computer(s). They were sorry that two had been shipped and that I was having issues. We came to a settlement that I would be credited for the bad memory ($55.00) and I agreed to keep the 2nd machine that was sent. So actually I am not really disappointed in the long run.

I have 1 gig of memory here that will work in the machine. I did call, out of curiosity, and check on buying a stick of PC2700 memory at the local computer shop and they charge $40.00 for a 1gig stick.  So in effect I got the second machine for less than $20.00

What would you of done, had this happened to you?

I'd have screamed bloody murder. I was barely able to get one machine. 2? I'd have been in big trouble. ::)

Well I was not happy at all that they charged me for two, since I did not order two. But in the long run it works out ok for me. Think about it, I am getting two machines for less than $100.00 bucks. And what ever time it takes me to clean up the cases.

Yea. Looked at that way, you got a deal. But what if you had to borrow from a friend to get one? And got 2 instead? The doubled cost would be a problem, wouldn't it?

Of course, just as bad as if it would of over drafted my account because of it  Please do not get me wrong, this should of never have happened. In this case it comes out ok, but it could of just as easily have caused A BIG headache for the person ordering it.

+1, especially if it had been "the average Joe,, not our Joe,,". How pissed off would "he" have been. And to top it all off, that would probably have been his overall impression of "Linux".  :P

It would of been a whole lot better if it would of come with PCLinuxOS instead of that brown edition. I am going to sand down the cases and paint them.  They will look really nice by the time I get finished with them, a far cry from this.
