Sharing Music folder with Internet radio
« on: December 30, 2011, 06:50:56 PM »
I want to share my music folder with my internet radio.  I enabled sharing of the folder and checked off Windows Samba.

The radio sees the computer and sees the folder.  But, it asks for a user name and password. When I provide these, I still do not gain access.

Toonfully,

Okay, read through it and things sure have changed since 2009.  Some of the stuff isn't where it should be.  I haven't changed anything yet.

Ye know, I have no idea what you are doing  :D  :D

What radio app? Or is it a device?

You want to share to or from a Win PC?

If not using Windows ignore Samba ....  it is a pain!

My apologeis.:)  Okay, I have an internet radio   Free standing.  It hooks into the network/internet via wireless.

I blogged about it in the past:

Also blogged on my old blog OneClickLinux.com:
http://www.oneclicklinux.com/2008/12/dont-be-afraid-to-click.html

Anyhow, the radio can act as a media player by reading a shared music folder on your computer and then playing the songs.:)

For some reason, when I ran Linux Mint, the shared folders always came up on the radio without a problem.  Now, in PCLinuxOS, I guess I need to do some set up.

I recently acquired a Logitech Squeezebox Radio for Internet radio and streaming music from my PC. Although the built-in speaker is not great, it drives a pair of powered speakers (with sub-woofer) very well ......  great stereo sound.

I now use squeezeboxserver from the repository which makes my music available to the radio.

Does you radio require a DNLA server on the PC?

You should also check your Firewall if enabled.

Happy New year!  ;)

Well, did this on my desktop tonight after shooting a video of my Tablet.:)

Used instructions from Tex:

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,93375.0.html

Internet radio still asking for a password.

I guess I messed up someplace.
