I can help you with the Greek translation, if there will be one.

But it is my first time :)

There will be one if you can do it  :D  Thank you!

There are instructions in this section which should guide you ......  and if in doubt ask and I am sure someone will be able to help out.

Good luck  ;)

I look forward to adding the Greek translation

Note: In case it is of interest to any new translators, I have updated the files I linked to above, to include the German translation files.

I hope to continue to update that zip folder as new translations become available ....  and will eventually delete the old translations from the file. At that time it should be ready for packaging.

I could produce a Swedish translation (and possibly even a Finnish one).

The problem is that I know nothing about the format of .pot, .po and .mo files (even if I did poo and moo while experimenting with pot in my wild youth). Can I just pick the German versions of the files and replace the German text with text in another language while not touching the English text? Or would I have to read some manuals?

Hey BB!  That would be great if you can manage it!

I will leave all advice about the translation to others ......  but I guess that you would have to check that the text looked correct on the various Zenity windows, so some jiggling with the format (line breaks etc) might be necessary.

regards.

Hi babe,

have you pack it?

No i wanted to wait for the other translators and dont want to steel the job from the guy who have done it before ;D

@bald brick, agmg
Quick and dirty introduction into translating with poedit
The easyest way to do the translation is using poedit (see the link from as), install it from synaptic and than download the pot file archive from my link above.
Extract the files and rename them to xyz.po. open it with poedit -> go to Catalog in menu -> Preference and set there the language and charset options
than you can start to translate. when you save the file the .mo file will create automaticly

for testing the translation you have to copy the .mo file to /usr/share/locale/<your local code>/LC_MESSAGES and after this start the script.

Now have fun while translating :D ;D :D

OK. I have downloaded the "virgin pot files" archive and extracted it getting two files:

lusbc.pot
lusbc_0.9.7.sh.pot

I renamed them to *.po and started working on the translation with PoEdit.
Should I rename them in a particular way to indicate that they are meant for the greek language? (like lusbc-gr.po and lusbc_0.9.7.sh-gr.po)

its surely possible and easyer for the packager ;D

the packager needs only the .mo files. when you change the name the mo file get the same name. if you want to test the translation in this case you have to rename e.g the .mo file to lusbc.mo

This is not correct, our specfile generate from your as sample lusbc.sh-de_DE.po a mo file. So we need the po files.
