Hi Steven. Seems to me MyLiVEcD WON'T CUT IT with the size of full monty. Its been yesrs since i was using it now and again. Doe's it not have the option to write to a create a Live DVD? That would do the job. Just asking out of interest. Thanks for your input mate.

Full Monty is created with mylivecd as I understand it  .......  check that you are not including your own files which would bring the size over the max.

Just out of curiosity, can mylivecd handle images for double-layer DVD or Blu-Ray?  That would make it quite capable of doing larger images, if it were so.

Actually yes and no, there is some limitation in one of the tools used from mylivecd that limit it to 4 GB, however it's possible (and has been tested from me and from Just18), to overcome the 4GB limitation by using mylivecd --noclean (or --workdir) along with PClinuxOS-liveUSB-Creator, will allow to manage larger .sqfs images when using USB sticks.

Hmm... this sounds like a good topic for a how-to or a magazine article (parnote is always looking for good stuff for PCLinuxOS Magazine, man).  Think about it some, and if you have the time to put into it, consider writing a short article.  Believe me, writing something like this is an excellent learning experience as well as a chance to share.

As far as  i can make out, for those of us who are using Full Monty and don't want to muck about removing programs we may or may not use in the future, moving heaps of data out of /home, Acronis True Image Home doe's a great job. You don't need to be dual booting from Windows and you don't need to register/activate the ISO. Simply run the ISO from boot, set the priority to "High" and depending on the size of your spare or extra Data Drive / partition set the compression level to medium(which is default). Or if the partition your going to store / and /home on is a bit on the small size, set the compression level to Maximum. Takes a little longer the higher the compression but if your on a tower with a data drive or partition it fast enough for me. Doing it from a laptop to an external will be slower of course, as it is with mine , but hey, at least its there in case i have a major stuff up!! Our old mate Karl.M now deceased, God Bless him, always preferred to do it from the live boot Acronis CD. And with Acronis 12 it does a great job on ext3 and ext4 now as well. Thanks for all the input and ideas that came in on this post every one. Cheers, Wayne.
