This procedure did work...before the Asus Transformer latest software push (last week, for me).  Now, the process doesn't work.  I've even tried to  reprocess, but get errors when I enter the following in a root terminal:
mtpfs -o allow-other /media transformer

The error is
fuse: unknown option `allow-other'

I'm not getting anything from the 'ls' command from the root account either

I'd appreciate some help.  Thanks,
Alan

great video, very helpful with every device using android 4 that doesn't work as a usb mass storage device

since the video is a bit dark and i want to be completely sure, the steps are

1. connect the device

2. instal mtpfs from synaptic

3. open console and log in as root by writing su and then root password

4. go to /media

5. write mkdir thenameofthefoder

6. change permissions by writing chmod 775 /media/thenameofthefolder

7. change mtpfs properties by writing mtpfs -o allow_other /media/thenameofthefolder

two questions:

1. do i have to repeat any of those steps after unplugging the device?

2. is there a way to make the folder show as a mounted device under dolphin?
