SOLVED : USB Headphones Problem
« on: December 25, 2011, 07:55:35 AM »
hi  :)

I have tried a lot to find a solution to the problem of sound in my computer
I found some solutions in forum, but I do not know What I do I'm confused , I can not hear any sound

first thing i do , go to
configure your desktop - multimedia - phonon
i put [ Microsoft life chat lx-3000 ] the first one , then apply

after that i run audio by vlc and youtube .. there is no sound
i think maybe i need to restart my PC but also there is no sound

somebody told me to install PAVUCONTROL from synaptic
i installed it , There are several options
I do not know what I'm doing here and how to adjust the sound settings

According to the pavucontrol pic, the USB device is set to ONLY do microphone ......  so no sound out, only sound in.

Change the setting for the device from the drop-down list to 'input and output'.

After that it may be a matter of setting the volume controls etc.

Did you change the USB device in pavucontrol Configuration page from Mono Input to Analogue Stereo Output and Mono Input?

If you are not using the Internal Audio then turn it off in the pavucontrol Config.

All sound after that should be sent through the USB device.

There is no need to reboot after making such changes.

Play an audio file with VLC, then go through the volume settings until you hear it.

When using those apps, check the playback tab on pavucontrol ......  to ensure the sound is being sent to the correct output and that the volume is up so it can be heard.

I don't use Totem .... so have never come across this .....  I wonder if it integrates with PulseAudio at all?

Most apps do ......  or else have a plugin to play nice with Pulse Audio ..... there may be some info on the app site/forum about this.

Only idea I have is to wonder where that Cypres HDMI output came from .....  it is not in any of your pics from the PCLOS install.

The difficulty is that IF you have an unused HDMI output some or all of the applications *could* send their sound to it, and nothing would be heard.

Have you the correct video driver for your graphics card installed?

The picture above is showing a HDMI connection, yet there is no mention of that connection in any of the pictures you posted from PCLOS.

Why is that?  maybe lacking a correct driver?

I suspect the missing sounds are being sent to the HDMI connection .....
