Accessing Win XP computers through a network
« on: December 21, 2011, 06:16:52 AM »
I would like to understand the process for the above. When I go to SMB for accessing files with windows I can see the computer I wish to access but that is all. When I click on the computer I wish to access nothing happens.
What is happening here please?
Yes am new to Linux it is a steep learning curve.
Can a windows network computer be accessed by a terminal window?
Ta

One simple way is to use SMB4K (probably already installed).

Another is to start Dolphin and click on Network -> Samba Shares <wait a little while> -> the workgroup you want -> the computer you want -> the share you want

Regards

EDIT
Damn, just noticed this is in LXDE just let me check

Open My Documents
on the menu bar select Go -> Network Drives -> Windows Network -> [wait a little while] -> the workgroup you want -> the computer you want -> the share you want
