In addition I wonder if it is necessary or desirable to include the boot options

AFAIK, quiet is always included in official PCLinuxOS release. (from 2011-06 ? )
vmalloc=256M can save the day when using some Nvidia cards, like you should already know. 

I would include vmalloc=256M always, and give users an option for "quiet splash=silent" or  "splash=verbose"

The inclusion of a choice to use verbose or silent will not be incorporated into this release .....  might think about it next time around    My present opinion on that is it is easily managed locally ....  so would not be worth the aggravation of another pop-up in the utility. Of course that opinion might change in time

Just for clarity, can I ask if you used the 'primary OS' install option for Openbox and the 'Add an OS' option for RAW, or did you have an OS already on that stick and use the 'ADD' option for both?
I think this is not important now, just want to clarify in case of any questions later.

After wiping the stick, Openbox was installed as primary. It was installed from a live CD session. 'Add an OS' option was used for RAW. It was added from an iso file. Both are now on the stick with appropriate GRUB entries.

You are right!

That's also the reason why LiveUSB-creator ask "if you want to add persistence" and do not ask if you want to add this or that flags.  Despite the words I have used to answer Just18's question, I'm confident about Just18 proper choice when/if he will implement the additional choice using something like: "Do you want verbose output while booting ? "

I'm sorry I posted a bunch of problems & disappeared. Some unforeseen holiday activities came up & I couldn't get back.
Glad you got the testers you needed & are now complete.
I noticed nobody had the issues I did, so likely a problem on my side & I assume you received enough feedback to finalise the script.
But if you are interested, I still have 2 issues;
1. If I try to use an iso located in /home/user. Immediate crash when I open the /home/user folder from the iso selection dialog.
If I use an iso in / or /Downloads, runs fine.
Also,
2. If I try to create a new usb install whose name is the same as the existing install, it rejects simply overwriting the existing system with one of the same name. If I choose a unique name, the existing system is overwritten with the uniquely named one, resulting in a one system usb, as expected.
These were using lusbc_0.9.7.sh.
Here's my terminal effort. Doing something dumb, I know.

The script has been updated to lusbc_0.9.7-1.sh. However, Just18 has now withdrawn the download. In any case, testing with the script you have, you do not need to launch it as user root. Launch it as your regular user and it will prompt you for root's password. You need to launch it by doing: sh lusbc_0.9.7.sh or ./lusbc_0.9.7.sh. Just as an FYI, the iso I copied while running the script was in my /home/user/iso directory.

                 thanks for getting back.

In order to get a full report of what happens when you choose an ISO in /home/user you need to run the script as follows ....

Make sure you have made the downloaded script executable.

As user, open a terminal and su to root ... then

put the full path to the script into the terminal ...  something like  /home/john/downloads/lusbc_0.9.7.sh (alter to suit your situation)  and press enter.

The script will give a verbose output in the terminal which you can ignore while using the utility. Do NOT close the terminal.

When completed/failed/whatever, please copy the full output from the terminal into a post, so I can go through the output to see where, and hopefully why, it went wrong.

With that information your problem should be locatable.

I would appreciate this feedback as soon as you can manage it ......  if there is a bug then this might help get it squashed.

Yes I can .......  but for the particular problem that johnmart has reported - failing to get the ISO from a particular location - there has been no change in the script.

I would like to get the terminal output from his present script first, and then if required, ask him to try the 0.9.7-1 script.

Plop boot disc ....  you can find it on line ....  is available for both CD and floppy .....  here is a floppy image I and others have used successfully. The only difference in this image and the one you will find on line is that I have edited the config file a little, to default to USB.

The image needs to be written/burned to disk ....  the 'dd' command is my preferred way for floppies.
