Graphics Gone
« on: December 18, 2011, 07:23:00 AM »
Hi,

I recently returned home after a long trip and did all the upgrades required. I first ran aptupgrade as recommended and then upgraded the rest. I'm now not getting a graphical menu at all. Upon bootup, I got to this very oldschool "Welcome to Aphrodite" (Aphrodite is my computer name) with just a login textfield for username. After that it asks me for my password. Then it asks for me to authenticate for drak3d and tells me to reboot if any graphical settings have changed. It then freezes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You can try your graphics back with: XFdrake --auto  (su to root)

But I guess your installed system is (was) too old to get a properly installed (updated) system
Backup your important data and download and install one of the latest PCLinuxOS 2011 isos

I recommend the second option.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I did the second option. Just didn't touch my home folder and reinstalled pclos. Worked like a charm.

Thanks for your help!
