All versions of Linux and New Motherboards
« on: December 14, 2011, 06:53:21 AM »
Does anyone know which version(s) of Linux are 100% compatible with this (http://tinyurl.com/84nencs) motherboard?

Also, I wanted to make that a hyperlink but it doesn't work. It wants me to have a PhD in HTML to do it...

I will be upgrading soon to a new mobo, mo' mem'ry, and an SSD HD and need those exact features in a compatible motherboard.

The type and numbers of slots are what I need. (Never enough expansion slots)...

Not sure if anyone can say 100%.

For me Kernel 2.6.38.8 and above work well with my hardware.  Anything below 2.6.38.8 I have trouble suspend/hibernate due to USB 3.0 Host Controller.  I need to have USB 3.0 enabled in my BIOS because I have USB 3.0 docking system.

System:    Host: AMD6X Kernel: 2.6.38.8-pclos3.pae.bfs i686 (32 bit) Desktop KDE 4.6.5 Distro: PCLinuxOS
Machine:   Mobo: ASUSTeK model: Crosshair IV Formula version: Rev 1.xx
Bios: American Megatrends version: 2002 date: 04/01/2011
CPU:       Hexa core AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (-MCP-) cache: 3072 KB flags: (lm nx sse sse2 sse3 sse4a svm)
           Clock Speeds: 1: 3200.00 MHz 2: 3200.00 MHz 3: 3200.00 MHz 4: 3200.00 MHz 5: 3200.00 MHz 6: 3200.00 MHz
Graphics:  Card: nVidia GF104 [GeForce GTX 460] X.Org: 1.10.4 drivers: nvidia,v4l Resolution: 3520x1080@51.0hz
GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 460/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW! GLX Version: 4.2.0 NVIDIA 290.10
Audio:     Card-1: nVidia GF104 High Definition Audio Controller driver: HDA Intel Sound: ALSA ver: 1.0.23
Card-2: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) driver: HDA Intel
Network:   Card: Marvell Yukon Optima 88E8059 [PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Controller with AVB] driver: sky2
IF: eth0 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: 20:cf:30:47:d2:54
Drives:    HDD Total Size: 3248.7GB (0.5% used) 1: /dev/sda OCZ 120.0GB
           2: /dev/sdb WDC_WD1001FALS 1000.2GB 3: /dev/sdc C300 64.0GB
           4: /dev/sdd C300 64.0GB 5: USB /dev/sde EADS 1000.2GB
           6: USB /dev/sdf 01FALS 1000.2GB

I have two desktop PCs both identical except the other CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 965.

Motherboard you linked have USB 3.0 if you need to enable it then 2.6.38.8 and up should fine.
