Cannot Change Desktop Theme
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:19:02 PM »
I just downloaded several new KDE Desktop theses in Synaptic. Now, when I click on "Configure Your Desktop," and on "Workspace Appearance," the thing crashes, and the bug handler come up. I can click on anything else in there and make it work, but not "Workspace Appearance." Is this something I did, or a glitch? Anyone know how to fix it, without reinstalling?

No problem here.  How many themes did you add?  Presumably they are included in that view and, perhaps, the application can't carry the load?  What about adding one at a time?

ternor has a good point. remove the themes you installed and reinstall them one at a time. once a theme is installed, see if you can change to it using the workspace appearance. if the first theme installs without incident then it is most likely there's a bad theme. however, if on the first reinstalled theme, system settings crashes then it isn't any of the theme and we should look at this carefully.

This has happened to me a few times now. I find if I fire up Synaptic, and reinstall Nvidia drivers, then reboot, it works after that. For me it is the same with the 32 and 64 bit version. Running the 64 bit right now on a brand new SATA drive, and so far......any idea when the 64 bit version will be finished and mainstream? Just asking, not pushing.
