Now for some good news!

You can now access the pclosmail web mail interface using SSL

The url is https://pclosmail.com

Please note during our testing phase we are using a self signed, 256-bit encryption certificate. As soon as we have finished our testing phase we will be using a openSSL certificate.

I clicked on your url above and got this:

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to pclosmail.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

          What Should I Do?

You are seeing this because we are using a self signed certificate.  If you click on the "I understand the Risks" and than click on "add exception" Than click on "Confirm Security Exception".  It will than proceed to the website using 256 bit encryption.  Once we have finished testing the SSL on the system we will switch to an openSSL 256 bit encrypted certificate that will not display that warning.

Here is what you see once you logged in and look at the SSL info

Yep. Except for the Untrusted certificate "Warning", the service IS running as it should be. Thank you for taking it another step to service improvement, YCT.

I do, however will make a request in the next couple of days .... I will first research my request.

Peace and much respect,
Archie

Well this warning should be expected when using a self signed certificate, even though it is using 256 bit encryption.  Can you really trust any CA anyway?  Just recently DigiNortar was breached.  And these are people that we are paying to tell your web browser that we should be trusted.

"Certificates like those DigiNor and other CAs issue are the backbone of Internet trust."

A self signed certificate was designed for one to test their system when using SSL. I see no issues with their usage for such. I would never use one for any type of paid transaction. IE: a shopping cart

I can't really complain about a free service. I thank you for providing it. However, I can offer some observations.

In the mail composer, if I switch to HTML mode, then click the add addresses button below the text box, after selecting addresses I am back in text mode. If I enter some email addies and something in the composition box, as soon as I select HTML mode instead of text mode, I lose everything entered.

Like I said, just observations.

Sorry that that it doesn't seem to be working for you. I will have to take a look at it and will post my findings.

UPDATE:

After looking at the system all the language files are in place and php does include the gettext module, yet nothing works as it should. There are no error code(s) showing anything being wrong.  I will make a post about it on their forum and see if anyone has an idea how to correct it.

Thanks for putting time in this matter.... apparently not your fault  :) (if it requires too much time at the end, just leave it; however if it's a simple fix, I'd be happy if you implement it  :D)

Also thank you for offering a more "secure" way of accessing the mail  :)

Dudes... I seem to have a problem with the encoding of some characters:

Instead of > I get %3E
Instead of ' I get %27s

In some e-mails... Where would I change the encoding settings to get rid of this issue?

Regards.

Andy

No, there has been no changes to the certificate. I have also noticed that every once in a while Firefox seems to forget about it. Maybe that is a "feature" of Firefox....Nagging
