Gentlemen,

My question is very straightforward: What should I do to prevent the applications menu from showing in PCMANFM ? I'm making a kiosk machine, and so far, I was able to block almost everything, but I still need to block the terminal, and the applications. I used IceWM and limited the applications menu the user can access, but even so, through PCMANFM it is possible to access the full set of applications.
Any tips or hints would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

My first thought, is removing all .desktop files in /usr/share/apps or applications
=> however, possibly there's a better way to make them unreachable...

Another thing:
Do you mean by preventing them going to the terminal: by <Ctrl><Alt><F1> to <F6>?

Ahh, if I do this, remove the .desktop files, it will render the system unusable to other users.
To prevent  <Ctrl><Alt><F1> to <F6> there is a server flag in Xorg conf, I believe will work.
I mean, when one opens PCMANFM, it displays the applications menu, in the left side bar.
I was wondering how to hide this applications menu.
Ok ?

Thanks for your quick response.
Best regards

Ok, I could make the system prevent the login terminal (ctrl+alt+Fn) by tinkering with Xorg.conf.
But still could not take the applications menu from PCmanFM.
I will try PCmanFM as a desktop provider (Icons and wallpaper), but, if folks start to mess with applications menu, I will have to disable PCmanFM and put iDesk instead.
It's not a very fair trade, PCmanFM is way better, but the users are the ones who will give me the feedback, either to change or not change the desktop provider.

I will mark this topic solved by now, but I wasn't able to make the applications menu disappear from PCmanFM.
As I wrote above, if folks start to mess with applications menu, I will change PCmanFM for other file manager, and put iDesk in its place to provide the eye candy icons on the desktop.

Thanks for all who wrote with ideas and tips
