Well now I seem to have lost some types of sound. Not sure how I did that. The frustrating thing is the mic worked till I had to reinstall. At this point I'm about to just give up and do a total install not saving home this time. I hate rebuilding but it is better then frustration.

Total reinstall including new Home partition did it. I know, surgery by ax but I now have it working and it didn't even require any tinkering. :)
