[SOLVED] Can't upgrade or update
« on: December 03, 2011, 06:31:48 PM »
I have done a fresh install of PC Linux OS 10. However I cannot perform a dist upgrade as I get this error:

Code: [Select]
[root@localhost lewis]# apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Calculating Upgrade... Failed
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libnet-snmp25: Obsoletes: libnet-snmp20
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

On top of that, if I try to update the packages through Synaptic, it gives me a list of ones it wants to remove but there are ones like KDE, Firefox, Gimp. etc. and contains all the system packages.

So what's with it?

There is no PCLinuxOS 10, so it's hard telling what you installed. The current release image is pclinuxos-kde-2011.9.iso. If you install from anything earlier, odds are it won't upgrade properly.

The  PCLOS 2010 isos are too old to update your system. please download the latest PCLOS iso when doing a fresh install.

Is it possible to use a burned 2011 ISO image to upgrade my system?

And to prevent such things, it's best to keep rolling a little with us  :) (updating every 1 or 2 weeks at least)

Yeah, the reason I'm back on PCLOS 10 is because I screwed up my previous install and 2010 was the only disk I had.
