Wacom bamboo, again.
« on: November 26, 2011, 05:30:58 PM »
Hi to all!
I use Pclos w. LXDE, kernel 2.6.38.8.pclos3.bfs 1.1
I also own a wacom bamboo cth-470m and, of course, it won't work with my kernel. For now, lsmod detect a wacom product, PCC detect a mouse, without known module.
After reading the 10 pages posts on wacom tablet, i am a bit confuse; Path, localisation of files, utilities and procedure seem different from my own pclos and seem changing from kernel to kernel.
There is a patch, dated sept.30 2011 here: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/attachment.php?list_name=linuxwacom-discuss&message_id=CAGzDe_Z4zJ_ZjZK5Wy%3DzPwUv%2BqLwHxNquxPL9m1Z65TV5LKM%2BA%40mail.gmail.com&counter=1
This patch is suppose to work on another distro, using 2.6.38 kernel. There is instructions to use the patch, path look like my pclos. However, half of the procedure use the sudo command. We have been warned to NOT use the s-word command and, since i do not want to be [snip] ;D by one of you,  do i better wait until a patch, DKMS or a new kernel to be available or, try to find alternate direction to use that patch?
TIA!

Have you made any progress with this?

I have the same model, but haven't had time to futz with it (I have a newer laptop with Win7 - I know  ::) - and I've been using it there).

I'd like to see what can be done, but I'm also watching as updates come along to see if this gets addressed.

...thanks.

Pags,
I'm exactly at the same point as you; Wacom suggest a distro based upgrade for newer kernels. So i'm waiting patiently.
May i add that on my win7 netbook, poor ol' GIMP (for win7) don't even see the tablet and it look miserable on a 10 inches screen :(
Since i'm not the only one who wish the upgrade, perhaps it will accelerate things...

Thanks!
