To solve the issue is very simple!
Install upower with synaptic.
This does the trick, everything is back to normal! Thanks
I believe that this package should be brought as a dependency, since it's absolutely necessary for laptops.
Did say that to Texstar in a few words a few days ago:Maybe a suggestion to build the next KDE 4 update against udisks/upower?
It's still build with the HAL flag (outdated since end 2009).
This brings unity to all desktops for mounting devices.
Udisks is needed on E17, Mate, Xfce 4.10.2 and...?

When I look at the download section on the homepage, I see the links for the KDE Desktop, LXDE Desktop and the FullMonty Desktop.
Where would I find the link to the Mate version of PC LinuxOS? I really wouldn't mind giving that a try.
