Sandbox / The Lone Ranger and Silver
« Last post by Just17 on Today at 01:26:22 PM »
The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an enemy Indian war party.

The Indian Chief proclaims, "So, you are the great Lone Ranger. In honour of the Harvest Festival, you will be executed in three days. But, before I kill you, I will grant you three requests; one per day. What is your first request?"

The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse."

The Chief nods and Silver is brought before the Lone Ranger, who whispers in Silver's ear, and the horse gallops away.

Later that evening, Silver returns with a beautiful blonde woman on his back.

As the Indian Chief watches, the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's Tent and spends the night.
The next morning the Indian Chief admits he's impressed. "You have very fine and loyal horse, but I will still kill you in two days. What is your second request?"

The Lone Ranger again asks to speak to his horse. Silver is brought to him, and he again whispers in the horse's ear.

As before, Silver takes off across the plains and disappears over the horizon. Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a brunette, even more attractive than the blonde.
She enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night. The following morning the Indian Chief is again impressed. "You are indeed a man of many talents, but I still kill you tomorrow.
"What is your last request?"

The Lone Ranger responds," I'd like to speak to my horse....ALONE."

The Chief is curious, but he agrees, and Silver is brought to the Lone Ranger's tent.

Once they're alone, the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and says:
"Listen very carefully, you jughead, for the last time.......... . BRING POSSE!!!!  POSSE!!!!  POSSE!!!!

To solve the issue is very simple!
Install upower with synaptic.

This does the trick, everything is back to normal! Thanks :)

I believe that this package should be brought as a dependency, since it's absolutely necessary for laptops.

:) Did say that to Texstar in a few words a few days ago:

Quote
Maybe a suggestion to build the next KDE 4 update against udisks/upower?
It's still build with the HAL flag  (outdated since end 2009).

This brings unity to all desktops for mounting devices.
Udisks is needed on E17, Mate, Xfce 4.10.2 and...?

Hi kc1di, Galen

When I look at the download section on the homepage, I see the links for the KDE Desktop, LXDE Desktop and the FullMonty Desktop.

Where would I find the link to the Mate version of PC LinuxOS?  I really wouldn't mind giving that a try.

Thank you

you can install any of them, then open Synaptic, press Reload, and then search for and install task-mate , more info on mate can be found here in the forum.

Check at: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=202&t=92107
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Power_Management

Guess there is lot info on the net and just search with "upower linux" with google or other search engine.

My understanding is that Cinnamon is an attempt to make Gnome 3 more like Gnome 2. We've just recently received Mate, which is a fork of Gnome 2. So, Cinnamon and Mate should be similar on the surface. Up until now, no-one has been interested in packaging Gnome3 or Cinnamon. Since there are so many desktops available, it is not likely that this will change.

Hello carmendixon,
Welcome to PCLinuxOS Forums.

Though I'm not in the know- My opinion would be that at present it would not be possible to install Cinnamon on PCLinuxOS  , because Cinnamon is a shell on top of Gnome 3 and as far as I know Gnome 3 has not been built for PCLinuxOS.  However there are plenty of other DE to choose from including now Mate.
