The Drobo FS qualifies on both counts.
Mine is a Drobo FS connected to my main PC via a Gigabit switch. I also connect to a RaspberryPi, also running samba, with the same consequences.Are you assigning them static IP addresses? That may make a difference... even though it shouldn't.
Yes. Static IPs for the wired devices (also recorded in the hosts files) but DHCP for the laptops and tablet that go travelling.
