i checked volume levels and properties on pavucontrol, sound works ok on most audio players but distortion remains as described

yes, sound card works well on windows, but does show distortion under a game i was playing but possibly no relation with linux so i won't do anything else there for the moment, the workaround is working for the moment

The touchpad is visible in the hardware browser, and works -- but only for pointer movement; tapping and scrolling seem to be disabled. Synaptiks and kcm_touchpad packages are installed, but no touchpad configuration tools are visible, either through Desktop Settings -> Input Devices or PCLOS Control Center -> Set up Pointer Device. Only mouse settings are visible.You use KDE?
you can configure tapping with kcm_touchpad in
Configure Your Desktop > Lost and Found > Touchpad> Tapping tab

I don't know either but I do know you put the honey sauce on the biscuit.

I downloaded those previously and plan on using them to set up my sdd. Thanks for reminding me.
I would also like to know if I should keep my vm's on the sdd as well. Do you think there would be any benefit?
