I have a little stupid problem which I created when I accidentally deleted the symlink to Xsession in /usr/share/X11/xdm and end up not able to login through kdm. However I managed to get it back by recreating the symlink and point to /etc/X11

Just a moment ago I try to pop in a dvd to watch a movie, only to realise that the device notifier did not manage to capture the DVD. Same goes to usb disks (external harddisk and usb pendrive).

Please help! I am totally lost here!

hmm... forget to tell that I also did a apt-fast dist-upgrade just before I pop in the dvd, that could be the cause as when I refresh the rpm database and do another dist-upgrage, there are new files coming in. So now will wait for the upgrade and keep my finger crossed...

Is there some reason you are not using the provided and recommended method of updating your install? ........  I suggest you use Synaptic in the manner recommended.

I do not think using apt-fast will cause any trouble as it is just a script that utilises multithread downloading and the actual backend is still apt-get.

Anyway I will still probe to see if I am try to salvage the situation, or else the lastest full monty DVD is ready for me to do a fresh installation.

Thanks!
