Audio output confusion on PC Linux Problem Solved
«

Could I ask a question please. I have a creative sound blaster card which works fine, but ever so often I get a message that tells me that it wants to re-configure the audio output to the on-board sound card. Out of frustration I have done that. But then I find when setting g the ALSA mixer it says it on Intel audio but in fact the Creative sound card is operational. I am surly doing something wrong. How can I make settings that will stay configured when it comes to audio out selection on KDE.PC Linux
Thank
You.

Have you disabled the on board sound card in bios? probably you should do that

Thank you for the reply. Crow No I haven't. I am a newbie to Linux. Is that is system start up. A little familiar with the Windows but haven't tried anything like that in Linux. Would you be able to list the steps

When your start the computer, you have to push the Delete key (on mine anyway) to get into your bios. You might need to push another key depending on the computer make. If your computer came with a manual it should state there how to get to your bios, you can also visit the computer makers site for info. Then you need to disable it there, the bios is not part of any operating system, it's your motherboards

If you never entered BIOS be very careful and just make ONE change each time.
At the beginning your computer will show briefly an announcement like "Del to enter bios" or esc or a Function key and will give you a few seconds to press it; do it, it will present you with several options look for the sound board and disable it.
If you are sure you just made that change exit keeping the changes.
Your OS will enter, reconfigure sound using the other card.

if you consider this solved please put [Solved] in the topic of the first post, that way you help others with similar problems since they will look here first when seeking for answers.
