Hy all,
Trying out the E17 desktop right now. Takes really some time to get used to it - but it's very interestig to be able to set up the DE the way I want it... basically.
Right now I installed the themes packages from Agust , switched my wallpapers - and right there it tsarted. I went along the PCLOS magazine article from April 11. I don't get the neatly positioned wallpapers I want to have for my 2 desktops - also sometimes the numbers of the desktops down show up next to the sliders.
But the most curious thing is - that when I set the top shelf ti invisible, my second desktop window disappears but to 2 lines on the left vertical and the top horizontal line. I also can't switch to my second desktop. When I change the appearance STYLE  on the SHELF - SETTINGS menu, all is back to normal. Also I can hardly read the numbers and the time when set to INVISIBLE.
ANy body an idea what I do wrong?

Hope someone who has had this experience can help you Mamas, I haven't had these problems and I change wallpapers and themes often.  Smiley

MAMAS,

Yes, when you set a shelf's properties to invisible, you can no longer see the desktop pager. You can't see the systray, either. And, depending on the theme, you may not be able to see the start button. I don't know of a way around that. As far as anything else you're describing, I'm having a very hard time visualizing what you're talking about. How about some screenshots?

I discovered that using the settings menu from the main top bar had the button compiz to click. I did so - and alas - all of a sudden the desktop pager and all buttons are there - still the bar being invisible - the way I wanted it. SO it sems that this has to be enabled to make the invisible option working correctly.

Never tried it that way. Glad you got it working. I should point out that the setting you're referring to is e17 compositing, which is not to be confused with compiz. If you enable compiz, e17 will not start.
