Thanks a lot Linuxera!!!   Cool
I will stick around to follow what's going on here, I like a lot what I see.
Is there any place where one can contribute on this development or download its sources?

Hum, download it's sources..  Well, I have an idea.  What do you know about building RPMs?  Grin Grin.  We have an advanced section here where people can actually learn and get help from others who build rpms for our distro.. (hint, hint).  I'm sure we could always use some help in that area  Grin Grin.  Some of those who are building RPMs actually started out doing other things and kind of just got sucked into it..were drawn to it..needed to experience more.

So, go back to the main forum page, look for the advanced section, and to the posts about building rpms.  Maybe you will end up an angel like agust.. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Linuxera:
I haven't built any rpm's, but I want to learn.  Shocked  Wink
I have read http://www.pclosmag.com/html/Issues/200907/page08.html
but haven't found a sticky topic or any other that points to the RPM tutorial (yep,
I suck at my forum searches, LOL), please point me to one.
Any particular package?

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,55.0.html

This should make it very easy for ya, lightwarrior..  It is a whole section devoted to packaging rpms.  As to which rpms to package?  Ask the guys there what they are working on, what they need help with, pick some easy ones to get the hang of it.  It's a learning process and like Tex says "Some just get it, and some don't".  He's the master at rpms.  Wink

Thanks for the pointers... I think my searches need to be at homepage to be forumwide  Huh

Anyway, I tried to install the pkgutils here at E-17 Barebones and had a 2007 old rpm dependency issue.

So I went to read...

Well, after reading some more, I decided to go for the Minime KDE for rpm packaging.  I downloaded the iso and installed a brand new MiniMe...

And stomped on same issue... lol.  Well, more reading...

Finally I found that new rpm was at unstable repositories, so I modified the repository section for that and finally got pkgutils installed via Synaptic.

I've got to see what else is down this rabbit hole... I've a feeling it is not Kansas.

Lol,  that's really cute.  I believe Neal has created a new ISO just for building ISOs.  Guess we will have to ask him?

Did you look for the rpm-build package in Synaptic, or easyrpmbuilder?

Yes Linuxera, for packaging, there are some "barebones" ISOs recommended (MiniMe, Zen, etc...).

I used Synaptic to look for and install pkgutils (and all dependencies, including rpm-build).

This is the first time I have seen rpm packages being installed via Synaptic (usually I've seen only at deb and derivatives).

Never heard about easyrpmbuilder, KDE-Apps says it's part of the KDE, I come mainly from gnome.
Do I need to learn easyrpmbuilder for PCLOS rpm packaging?, I haven't seen easyrpmbuilder mentioned at packagers forum yet.

I thought that PCLOS rpm was loosely related to RHEL via Red Hat-Drake-Mandriva-PCLOS.

Easyrpmbuilder is not needed for packaging.

I just found out this...

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,73864.0.html

Probably a good idea is to read sticky packagers section by latest date, there's a continuos evolution of the packaging tools.
