I've updated the ISO to the most current packages on the repository.  It is still as bare as a new born baby with the exception of Filezilla.  Add a theme of your choice, apps you love and you are ready to rock and roll!!

I only deal in 32 bit until 64 bit is released publically.  Why should I produce a 64 bit ISO when bugs are still being worked out?

We hope to see the 64 bit PCLinuxOS relase soon (all bugs resolved, of course!).  Smiley
PCLinuxOS is a very good "distro", having a 64 bit relase also is good for completion.
I know some guys who are waitin just for install a PCLinuxOS 64 bit relase.

Yes, and I haven't seen a whole lot of difference on any of my machines.. I think 64 bit is over rated.. but then that's just MHO.. Roll Eyes

I am certain that when Linuxera releases a 64 bit version of e17, it'll be as slick as everything else she releases!  Grin Cheesy

I think you have a new record. I installed the Barebones desktop iso from boot to finish in just under 4 minutes. Amazing. Of course, I just had to load it up with all the desktop bells and whistles.

Hi Linuxera, first post at this forum.  Not newbie on Linux, but last time I used PCLOS was back in 2007.

I am looking for a E17 distro and found a 2010 PCLinux version, but apparently is not supported anymore.

I found this barebones version and downloaded it... my dumb question is, how I install it?  I didn't see an install option at boot.  LiveCD runs and looks great!

Will this be also a rolling release version?

I have a relatively slow connection, it kept dropping the ISO download halfway, so I thought it was better to ask what is the difference between the barebones and laptop version?

I'm running on a laptop.

Thanks on your reply.

Firstly, to install the ISO to a hard drive, go to Menu > Applications > More Applications > Configuration > Install  That will get Draklive rolling for you.  Just follow the step by step instructions.

Secondly, as long as you stick around and follow any instructions given in announcements, you should have a rolling release.  Failure to upgrade on a regular basis, or follow special upgrade instructions (like aptupgrade this year, and which are rare) can cause you to break your system.

Lastly,  Barebones laptop has an older kernel that doesn't cause the battery to drain so quickly.

Hope that helps.  Wink
