Hello, I seem to always have trouble with ATI, now AMD, graphics cards in Linux. This one is particularly buggy when using wine, which may have to do with it being a new card?
My exact card is:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150561I can run much older graphics chips/cards and many things work without a hitch, especially on my Nvidia chips. If anyone has any ideas on how to configure my card a bit better it would be very appreciated. When it comes to running Linux/native programs I haven't run into any problems yet, it seems to run all Linux related items great. The most annoying thing is it gives me some problems old graphics cards didn't, for example it will sometimes lock up my system on older games that run fine on my old card. I normaly end up using R.E.I.S.U.B, where can I find some type of debug/crash report, if one is available, from this?
Runs fine in Windows 7
System is up-to-date as of: 10/31/2011
Linux was freshly installed on this system when I add this graphics card.
ATI control center launches fine, all settings default. (I'm not a fan of how limited the control center is under Linux, wish AMD would develop it some more.)
For future reference, dose anyone else have better luck with Nvidia or AMD in Linux? I found in the past Nvidia seemed to work better, but I often preferred the AMD products under Windows and never reevaluated after switching to Linux.
-Thank You
