I need some creche level help on this please! I have downloaded the cupswrapper and lpr files from the 'Brother' site, (both as .rpm), and despite trawling through the forum..... I ain't got a clue what's next!
I have one machine running FM, and two running 2011 KDE.
Help....!!!!!
j
ps I have got as far as running the two .rpm's, using "rpm -i <filename>", in the 'downloads directory, which gets me the printer appearing in kwrite, for instance, but it will not actually print anything!

Looking
here
, I see it can be connected via USB, LAN, Wireless. So, how is it connected? Did you check the CD to see if there's an installer for Linux?

There do not seem to be any linux drivers on the CDs, in fact the packing list says there aren't!
It was connected wirelessly, so prompted by your remarks, I stuck in a USB link, and looked at the connections shown, which said " usb:/dev/usb/lp0 ". So I told it to print, and it did, printing out several pages of junk that I had previously tried.
Now.... the interesting bit is that now it prints WITHOUT the usb link in - so the wireless conn. is working correctly!
Next I've to sort out the scanner, but it's 1.30am here so that's for tomorrow.
Thanks,
j

Wireless devices often require a wired connection for initial setup. Even routers.
