My problem is that when I restart after installing and choose PCLOS 2011 KDE from the graphic grub, I have Win7 installed first, appear some text in the upper part of screen and in the last line: "grub>" and nothing else. What should I do? Using CDLive had no problems and when partitioned there were no errors. I copied and followed the help to install guide from the desk. and now? Please give a hand. Thanks, regards. hello and welcome to the forum!

could you give us more information about the hardware?

what livecd did you used? 2011.6?

about partitions, can you give us more information on them, swap, / and /home if you created one

Hello! thanks for the answer. I have AMD Athlon X2-64 DualCore 5200+ 2.71GHz 3GB RAM HDD 500GB GeForce 9400GT 512 MB not shared, Win7U Installed in C: and PCLOS 2011.6 KDE in another HDD 40GB clean just for this OS.
When PCLinuxOS 2011-6 KDE tries to start it freezes in a black screen with a last line: grub>
Click Enter and have a list of possible commands. Choose one among all: boot
and returns: Error 8: Kernel must be loaded before booting and back again to: grub>
When installing PCLOS had no problem, made partitions as shown in help link in the live CD desk: swap - / - Home and when installing grub chose graphics mode maybe chose the wrong HDD (it is HDD 40GB were PCLOS is installed)
I'm just to install another distro if cannot solve this problem but I'd rather wish to change and try PCLOS. Please if you can give a hand, it would be a great one.
Thanks, kind regards.

Chipaquero,

There's not enough information to go on. You have two separate drives. Windows is on the 500GB, PCLinuxOS is on the 40GB drive.

Which drive is set to boot first from the BIOS?
Did you install GRUB's master boot record to the Windows Drive or to the PCLinuxOS drive?
Can you set your PC's BIOS to boot from either drive?

When you get to the grub> prompt, run this command:

find /boot/grub/stage2

Post the results.
