No lines with the drivers show up.

I'm pretty sure you have the correct driver for your wifi chipset; most every site I have been able to find with documentation, including the realtek website indicate that is the correct driver...  the realtek website does list some newer driver versions than what we have available in synaptic though (the one in synaptic is from April 2010..  the current drivers from realtek were released Aug 2011).

There are now two drivers available, one for kernel 2.6.34 (and earlier), and another for more recent kernels.  It might be that the driver we have will only play well with older kernels..  try installing one (or more) of the pre 2.6.34 kernels from synaptic and see if that solves your problem.  If there is a reason you need a newer kernel, It might be time to put a package update request in the package suggest forum.
