I am not understanding what to do to install graphic drivers.. its a ATI Radeon HD 4200 on NV53 Gateway. Downloaded drivers from AMD.com and it keeps saying that its already installed and at same time how else you go around that to get the right one installed?

hello and welcome to the forum!

pclinux uses synaptic to install apps only from the repositories

the amd driver is on the repositories and if i remember correctly it is installed from the beginning

i don't know how to select it if it is not already being used on your machine

It shows Radeon 2000 instead of 4200 and at same time the 3d acceleration doesnt work with the 2000.

It shows Radeon 2000 instead of 4200 and at same time the 3d acceleration doesnt work with the 2000.

Actually, it says "Radeon HD 2000 and later".

Open Synaptic. Search for fglrx. Be sure the dkms-fglrx, fglrx-control-center and x11-driver-video-fglrx packages are installed. According to the ATI page here, (pdf file) your ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4200 card is supported by the catalyst driver.

After making sure you have the packages installed in Synaptic, open the PCLinuxOS Control Center. Click Hardware in the left panel, then Configure Video Card in the right panel. Click the top button which is the Graphic Card button. The correct choice for your video card should be highlighted by default. Select it and save all changes.

As you can see by the screenshot, I have an earlier version of an ATI.

I have an issue just like this.
I may post a new topic if it is not an easy fix.
