Someone should give that 'hunter' some lessons.

How do you know he was not just trying to frighten the deer ? Cheesy

That's a good point  Grin

Sheldon's father was promising to show him how to shoot a raccoon so close it craps itself.... Maybe the guy was practicing the trick on the deer? Cheesy

Btw... I LUV Big Bang Theory...

I think that melodie has the right idea.

I believe that around here, it would be illegal for a hunter to actually shoot the deer in that situation.

It may be otherwise in other areas.

A waste of ammo! And, come to think of it, it keeps the animal (not the one behind the rifle) from evolving. What a shame!  Grin

Back in the day, when I was in the German Army (Bundesweer), we had no ammo, for a few days it least. So we stumbled about in the forest, shouting 'boom, boom, boom!' It was quite montypythonesque.  Cheesy

So save your ammo. You never know when you need it.  Wink

After viewing the video, I have a different take on the situation.

If he was a bad shot then the shots would have gone in different directions.  However, all three shots hit in almost the exact same place, just to the left of the preferred shot placement area.  I don't think that he is a bad shot at all, but rather his scope was off.  It was off by quite a bit which leads me to believe that he had knocked his scope against something pretty hard and this altered the scope from its "zero".  I would say that it was off by about 10 to 12 inches, which would be considered quite a hard hit to the scope.

Either way, three strikes and you are out.  The deer wins.

I think melodie is wrong... Listen to the last second of the video... He is clearly disappointed with his shooting skills...

Oh my, doesn't THAT bring back some memories.  On exercise once, many years ago, playing the "enemy", we ran out of ammo.  "Just yell bang"  we were told.  Well, that lead to allsorts of mayhem. We were on top of a hill the "good guys" were supposed to take.  After we tried the embarrassing efforts of "bang", and "bang, bang" - nobody actually wanted to be the machine gun!, and "grenade" - that one got the response of "missed!", which was promptly followed up with "another grenade!!", we finally resorted to a bayonet charge.  It wasn't in the books, and it certainly wasn't in the plans, and the instructors tore strips off us, but it got us off the hilltop, through the "good guys" and out of the whole silly situation.  We sort of won.

The beers went down well that evening!!
