Has any one tried to duel boot with Windows 8 developer?  Have tried the tools in PCLinuxOS and Gparted for re-sizing.   Is the file structure different enough in Windows 8 that the current partition managers can not handle it? Or is it just a hardware problem of mine.  I disconnected my two  SATA hard drives from my motherboard.  Hard drive 0 has PCLinuxOS KDE & Windows 7.  Hard drive 1 has PCLinuxOS LXDE & XP.  Connected a IDE hard drive (only spare drive I have) on the only IDE connector on the mother board.  Installed Windows 8 then tried to re-size the partition and found out that I can not do it.  Motherboard is a Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3, with 4 gigs of RIPJAW DDR3, and a Phenom II x4 40 processor.  Hard drive is a Seagate 250623A.  This hard drive has had XP and PCLinuxOS on it before in a much older PC.  Any ideas as to why it wont re-size?

I fix and rebuild laptops and desk tops for many friends and coworkers and am trying to get used to Windows 8 before they bring it to me.   Some times they even let me install PClinuxOS.  Best idea I have right now is to format the hard drive, split it into partitions install Windows 8 then install PCLinuxOS.  That still leaves GRUB to make its home.  Wonder how that will work. Even if that works not a good idea to install on freinds and coworkers machines that way.  I know it is early days yet.  That you for looking and being kind by not flaming or bashing.  BASH commands are ok though. efc321:

You would be better off testing this in VirtualBox as a VM. Otherwise leave it as the only OS on the hard drive and chainload it from your existing grub installation. At this time we have no idea what MS may have done to their boot process for this OS, to screw up dual booting on a single hard drive.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?
