my problem is ,i am using a toshiba laptop quite old ,with ati x1200 series ,but i when i try to install it using sh command
this message pops up
Quote
which: no XFree86 in (/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/lib/qt4/bin)

Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:x86_64:lib::none:2.6.38.7-desktop-1mnb2; make sure that the version is being
    correctly set by --iscurrentdistro

    Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install.2kF2IU

honestly using the default graphic card driver which pclinux did choose ,work just fine but not well espacially i am still seeing some collors lines or just some spot of colors in blink of an eye when i click in somethings
and this probelm was not just with pclinux but also in mandriva and mint and sebayon ,

the link to download the driver of my card from the official site is in here

malekcool,

Welcome to the Forums!!

use "Configure your computer " > hardware > graphics card  and select ati from the xorg section (if this fails then you will need to use either the vesa or the fbdev graphics servers.

The card you have iirc is no longer supported by ati's drivers.

It is not recommended to use apps from outside of the synaptic repository also i note that your quote refers to x86_64 - the 64bit release is still in testing and would need t be discussed in the testers mailing list, the solution however would be the same.
