Hello everyone.
when I am trying to activate compiz in "configure your computer" i got information about that:
compiz-fusion, compiz-decorator-gtk will be installed and when I agree with it I wait few minutes and after that I got error that it was unable to install package compis-fusion.
the same think happens in synaptics or in console with apt-get:
Code:
[root@localhost ~]# apt-get install compiz
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or that some of the repositories
in use are in an inconsistent state at the moment.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
Następujące informacje mogą pomóc rozwiązać sytuację:

Następujące pakiety mają niespełnione zależności:
  compiz: Depends: libcompiz0 (= 0.8.4-3pclos2010)
          Depends: compiz-decorator
          Depends: libdecoration.so.0
E: Pakiety są uszkodzone
[root@localhost ~]#
it is problem with dependencies, but I cant figure it out

my /etc/apt/sources.list

Code:
# Package repository URL's

# Signed repositories have a [<key>] where <key> is the name of the key
# as it appears in vendors.list. If you remove it, no digital signature check
# will be made.

Hi masterdany88 - welcome to the forum.

Are you using KDE?  If so you could also have a look at KWin which gives very nice effects - I was a big fan of Compiz but now use KWin permanently.

Have you installed task-3ddesktop ?

And I always used to install the fusion-icon (and Emerald) to enable quick starting of Compiz etc..

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

PCLinuxOS 32bit & 64bit; 3.2.17bfs kernel, KDE 4.8.3; nvidia 295.53, Athlon 64 X2 4200+; 4GB Ram; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB; x.org 1.10.4 ; 500GB/320GB

Hey.
thanks for fast reply. Yes I use kde. I now that they made big progress with composition, but still I think that compiz is faster and use less cpu.
I cant install compiz
i cant install task-3ddesktop
cause I got error about dependencies witch can be made. I says that the packages are damaged.
I do not know how to cure it. Sad

I use theme for QT apps: oxygen-transparent. And it need better composition perhaps, cause it isn't enough smooth.

just in case: if this is a FullMonty install then the installation of compiz etc is blocked because it would destroy the FullMonty desktop.

check Important Notes point 6 here. You can use the KDE desktop effects instead of Compiz.

if Compiz is all you want then you can install any PCLinuxOS-iso but FullMonty. yes, during the installation you will have to format the root partition. It may also be advisable to not use your current FM user-account but setup a new user-account instead.

you can also keep your current FullMonty install and do the following to get Compiz
Note: the following steps will ruin your FM user accounts
1) run fm_switcher and change to the default KDE layout
2) add a new user-account
3) in a terminal enter the command:
Code:
/usr/bin/su -c 'rm -f /etc/apt/preferences'
4) start Synaptic, Reload, and then install the shiny Compiz-stuff
5) logout and login to the newly created user-account
6) configure your compiz-settings to your liking
