 Huh
Dear PCLinuxOS Forum,
Why addlocale on PCLinuxOS 2011 openbox doesn't work? Is there a way to start working? I have tried thousand of times but the aplication says can't download the languages. I have tried other 2011's version which they are working fine such as kde and lxde. can I solve it ?I have already upgraded the system via synaptic, but It still doesn't work definitely.I woudn't like to give up openbox 2011 I liked it too much the desktop.I was enchanted by this version, but I got disappointed. The addlocale it's not working fine.Is there some commands with terminal bash to fix it. I don't have any trouble in using the terminals. I appreciate your helpful hints. I'm looking forward to hear from you.
cheers.

which open box iso have you installed? Is it fully updated? Did you use addlocale 4.0-3? Run addlocale from a terminal and post the last lines before it stops working. What is the content of /tmp/addlocale-install.log?
the more details the better...

Thanks pinoc. I downloaded the openbox 2011 (full version). It said the addlocale it's not updated.I don't remember the command to run addlocale from the terminal bash to give you more details of the content of /tmp/addlocale-install.log.
cheers.

the fact that you got the message that addlocale is not uptodate seems to imply that you did not do a full update of your system, right? Please do that before running addlocale. You said you don't have any trouble in using the terminals, so how about using the following command in the terminal: addlocale
After you run addlocale you will find the log-file: /tmp/addlocale-install.log

and which language do you want to add anyway?

Hi,

Yes, all PCLinuxOS installs must be fully up to date before running Addlocale. I have produced versions in French for all Openbox based versions, and a few more that you can look at here. If this has worked for me, it should work for you as well when you will have found out what is wrong.

pinoc, thanks for all your work. I'll be trying the latest Addlocale next in a Zen Mini version I just updated.

(btw, I should come to ask about debug, can't get a Bonsai to revert back correctly and fully to English when I tried)

Thanks, pinoc for the clues!Should I use the "apt-get upgrade" instead of updating the system by the synaptic in order to do a full update of my system?I'm not used to the synaptic.I woud like to add the pt-br.
cheers.
Thanks Melody. Nice job with versions in French for all Openbox based versions,

Hi kuruka,
please follow these steps to properly update your system. The forum section Tips and Tricks has more useful threads to read, for example there is also a thread about addlocale...  Wink
