I am not new to Linux, but fairly new to KDE.

After the Unity Desktop came out, I started looking for alternatives. I burned a lot of CD's trying other distros, and threw most of them away.  I tried Gnome 3 and was unimpressed.  I tried K****** and Fe****, but experienced many crashes.

Like others, I read positive reviews of PCLOS KDE. I installed it, and have been very happy with it.  After a very minor problem installing Libre, 2011.6 has been problem free.

Usually, I end up installing other than the default wallpaper.  This sleek silver wallpaper is pure art. It's a keeper.

One of my favorite apps is E-Sword which requires WINE in Linux.  WINE in 2011.6 renders
it beautifully, the best in any distro I have tried.

If you are a typical computer user, browse the web, compose documents, spreadsheets, keep your genealogy files, play solitaire,  the replacement for Windows, PCLINUXOS 2011.6 is here!

To a person new to Linux, I would highly recommend 2011.6.

This is the most trouble free distro I have found. To repeat the old saw, "it just works." Smiley

Kudos Texstar!

iowaboy, glad you found your way here! PCLInuxOS is simply awesome and it runs like a top! I liked your comment about the wallpaper, I also think it is very good as well as the rest of the default artwork.

Don't.
Use cd-rw disks instead. They are a bit slower, but you can reuse them hundreds of times!

Or even better a single, 2GB usb stick Smiley
That would be far more cheaper and also faster than a CD.  Wink

I have myself tried some KDE distros in the past. I want to try 2011.06 soon (already have prepared a usb stick). Although KDE was never my favourite DE, I would like to see how 2011.06 goes compared to others and what improvements have been made on 4.6.
