OBJECTS IN MIRROR... ARE LOSING

« on: September 06, 2011, 12:05:39 AM »

As you probably know and thanks to Melodie's work and the effort of the testers the PCLinuxOS Edu has been released.

There is a torrent working now, the more seeders the fastest download for the leechers. It doesn't matter if your upload is slow, due to the multiplying characteristics of torrents every bit counts

* You can downloaded it from here:  http://linuxtracker.org/index.php?page=torrent-details&id=251d9bd2d7d8aaaa6e5eb9eec18c011ad6093f98

* Now download this two files that will be available for some days:  PCLinuxOS-Education-2011.08   http://db.tt/b3n8dRM   and  md5sum  http://db.tt/0yeIM5f

* You only need to open the .torrent with a torrent client and it will create the folder with three files inside

* Close the torrent client and overwrite the two files with those that you downloaded

* Open your torrent client again and it will check and validate the files in the folder

* There is a third file with the description (a readme.txt) but it will download fast to your folder.

That's all, please seed the longest time you can.

Thank you

Hi,

I am seeding it too since I discovered Crow's link to the torrent file.
http://meets.free.fr/images/PCLinuxOS_Edu_torrent.png

It's rtorrent, running remotely in a screen (screen which can be detached, therefore the process started in it continues running after unlogged from the remote server).

Crow was there at the beginning of the project, and is back for the final ! \o/ Cheesy

Let's have many Edu versions long after ! Grin

Seeding now. If that guy who earlier mentioned usenet in another thread posts the link, we're going to see a flurry of activity.

I've only uploaded 472MB so far. I guess the usenet post has not been made.

Deluge reports 10 seeders and 32 leechers,  Linuxtracker says 21 completed the download (nixer just ended  Wink  ), you have those that downloaded from the direct links and are not seeding and the ones that downloaded from Melodie's ftp.  I think is good for a first edition that is task specific, less population will want to try it.

I've been checking and the number of leechers is stable with a little tendency to grow.

Thank you all for help seeding  Smiley

Edit. Must add: 3 registered members in Distrowatch said "Thank You",  those are very respected Linuxers in my book. Besides, if you take in account the number of complete downloads that is quite an accomplish.

Crow,

My md5sum didn't match between the version that I had downloaded just a day or two earlier, so I re-downloaded using the stated torrent.  I will gladly seed for, well for a long time.

But, how did you know that I finished the download?  How did you know what was "my" ip address?  You were correct though.

ESP my friend  Cool

I wish  Grin  , no is more simple: if you click the downloaded number in Distrowatch it shows you the last people that finished the download, probably you are a registered user.

Yes, but I am not registered on that site as "nixer" and I have not actually logged into that site in a long, long time.

I think Crow might have meant "at Linuxtracker", and not at "Distrowatch". Crow ?

nixer, you are shown as nixer on Linuxtracker. Smiley

Long time had not seen you ! How are you ?

How are you ?

I am fine Melodie, thanks for asking.  I have not been able to assist with the testing of this edu version.  Earlier this year I had a lot of free time available due to a work related injury.  (All is fine now.) But because of this I was glad to help with the Bonsai release earlier.  I don't have much free time now.

But back on topic, thanks for the information on my registration.  I had forgotten...  Shocked

This topic also reminded me to alter the sharing ratio of the torrent.  My default is just over 1.00, so I "upped" it to a lot more.

Nice to have news, I am happy to know all is fine, and I hope your friends and family will have lots of fun with the Edu version particularly.

Good night,
Mélodie
