Please be advised our build server that produces RPMS for the software repository for PCLinuxOS will switch over to RPM 4.8.x as of October 1st 2011.

If you are running a PCLinuxOS 2010 installation and haven't installed and ran aptupgrade you will no longer be able to install new packages from the Synaptic Software Manager after October 1st.

You do not need to do anything if you have recently installed PCLinuxOS from a 2011.6 or newer CD.

More Information here on how to install and run aptupgrade

Switching the build server to rpm 4.8.x. If you are running 2010 release and haven't installed and ran aptupgrade now is the time to do it!

If you are running a 2011 release you do not need to install and run aptupgrade.

The build server that produces RPMS for the software repository for PCLinuxOS has switched  over to RPM 4.8.x as of today. This comes after a month worth of notices and reminders posted dating back to June 2011.

If you are running a PCLinuxOS 2010 installation and haven’t installed and ran aptupgrade you will no longer be able to install new packages from the Synaptic Software Manager.

You do not need to do anything if you have recently installed PCLinuxOS from a 2011.6 or newer CD.
