It is the lack of clear details and/or a clear question that frustrates me. Do they really expect us to know what they did? What error messages were displayed? And so on? They must think we're all psychic and have read their minds. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Maintaining the Marque

It's really the attitude that matters. The trolls are the lowest of insects on the Internet, followed by ingrates who think those who help them with their issues owe it to them because their parents never taught them.

There are plenty of good members to go around and New Friends to make. Our mods have done a fantastic job weeding out those who do not belong to this community, and I'm sure they will continue doing their difficult jobs. Our OS IMHO is the King of the Road, thanks to our devs (especially Tex) for all the time and efforts they've spent on giving us the best.

We are a good community; others may argue if I use best but there's no denying that we are one of the best.

So, I'm just very glad to be here ... with all you people. PEACE.

Well said Archie!

Ever so often, if you happen to be in the right thread at the right time, some clever troll will show up and you get to witness some of the most entertaining discussions.

Personally I love it when they come around these parts. Fun for sure. LOL

Right, may be boring when you are out of work and you are not remastering or posting in sandbox  Grin

And so they come out of the woodwork.  I knew it!  Sproggy is a supertroll .   Shocked Shocked  Take that!

I was made aware of a thread opened up in the Mint forum, announcing the new PCLinuxOS 2011 release.  That attracted one or two of those trolls - especially one comes to mind, claiming having been here for ever posting many posts and always treated badly.  I managed to find the chap still in our members list with a proud count of 27 posts - and I failed to find any "bad" treatment to one of them.

His main gripe was that Texstar didn't want to include some U_buntu font rendering in PCLinuxOS.

So I encouraged him to put his keyboard where his mouth is and resign from here.  He hasn't ...  yet.

You'll get those - but to be honest, they are the minority.

Most are just looking for instant gratification, expecting everything works like it does in Windows and panicking when it doesn't.  That is especially the case when, in a fit of over enthusiasm, they have deleted their old OS and can't get going with the new one .... PANIC  Shocked Shocked

But those can be dealt with and as a teacher, Jim, I am sure you get those situations daily.  I get them just being a father.  Over aggressiveness from our side will not do any good.  If you want to change that kind of attitude in others it won't be by preaching but by doing.  Show them in your answers and reaction how it can be done - and most will learn swiftly.  That is the challenge the more established members as well as admins and mods have - so lets face up to it.  It is actually fun.  What is more satisfying than successfully helping somebody?  Just about nothing ...
