Pulled the trigger after a few other installs failed and installed PCLOS on my MacBook. They are notorious for not running Linux. Got it up anyway.

I am posting now from Firefox running in PCLinuxOS!

I would kiss me a Texan right now if I could find one......and not get shot!

Yep, a 5,2 with a dual core 2Ghz, 2gig ram, 500gig drive I ripped out of a $49 usb drive. Slow by todays standards but it works.

Intel rather than PPC; That's why you installed without much issue, I believe.  There are distros with PPC kernels but even with those there is a degree of difficulty involved.  Congrats and have fun with it Grin

Thats OK, I like Siamese, had one named Jen while growing up.  Now I have two giant Maincoon sisters to drive me nuts. Got to love them while I can, they are on loan to me for the next 12 to 18 years.

I have a i book g4 that I installed linux mint ppc on and it  ran quite well. I put leopard back on it because flash support for linux on macs is non existent. It is a shame. I would install linux on it in a heartbeat again if I could get flash support.

This is something I wanted to make public a long time ago, but it never really happened, until this day. I just installed the new build of Iceweasel 6 on my Pismo and to my surprise I saw a video on a local Dutch website here. Although too slow, it showed that video was possible. So I headed upstairs to my development box, which is a G4 MDD with a more powerful Radeon 9000 pro card in it. To my surprise that video played well. So, then I thought: let's go for Youtube! The regular flash Youtube does not work, but if you activate HTML5 on the http://youtube.com/html5 page, you get streaming video!! This is incredibly good news. Wow man, this is somehing people have been waiting for, for a very long time, ever since I was playing with Linux on PPC.

So if you people out there are still not convinced that MintPPC is the answer to Apple not giving support anymore for the PPC architecture, I don't know anymore. Together with the new 9.3 MintPPC installer, installing MintPPC was never easier. I did it today on my Pismo. All I had to do is download the xorg.conf file for this machine and everything worked.

MintPPC is the replacement for OSX.
