Usually whenever an official PCLOS release comes out, the community remasters soon follow; this time, I see that they are released in their own time, which is causing a me small dilemma. I intend to install the enlightenment version on an old laptop. I'm not in a hurry, it can wait until the end of August, perhaps. Normally, I'd wait for an "official" enlightenment release, but I have no clue when it's coming out (and I'm not asking for a release date, I understand that PCLOS doesn't work this way).

So I was wondering what is preferable: Waiting for the "official" enlightenment release, knowing that it can take longer than I can wait? Or install Summer Fairy and stick to it? I remember Texstar pointing out (in verse Smiley) that Summer Fairy is well made, so I guess I shouldn't worry about stability if I use this instead of waiting.

Suggestions?

(BTW, installing enlightenment on top of the KDE release is not a not option: this laptop is so old that it can't run KDE4. Neither using another lightweight version is, I've tried them and Enlightenment beats them all for me.)

I would say, 'It's up to you'.  I don't see any official announcement that Tex is going to produce an E-17 ISO, and haven't seen anything from Smurfslover either on whether he's working on a lightweight E-17 release.  No matter which way you go, you will still have updates as there has been a few since I remastered that ISO.

The "Exquisite E17 Bunch Club" is to PCLinuxOS what the "Buena Vista Social Club" is to Cuban Son.  Smiley

Thanks for the reply. I believe I'll try a compromise - I'll wait for as long as I can, and if there is no iso or any news, I'll install Summer Fairy and keep it even if the official release comes out afterwards. Oh, and I won't forget to report my experience with it in this case Smiley
