I needed a scanner so I check the local junk shops and find a visioneer 6100
for $10.00. Problem... the linux driver for this scanner doesn't seem to work.
Solution? Go back to the junk shop return the visioneer and look again. Score!
HP scanjet for $5.00 (missing the power supply). 12v 1A no problem. I had
three of them in all my junk stuff at home. Hooked it up and works great.

FYI, it seems that I have almost never been in a junk shop which didn't have at
least two or three flatbed scanners for around 5 or 10 $.

Check before you buy new a one.

For scanners or printers you can't go wrong with HP as far as drivers in linux goes!
