Does anybody have any previous experience with running Linux on Toshiba laptops? Preferably the newer models?
I've been thinking of getting a P750D with the new AMD APU processors (A6 3400M variant quad 1.4-2.3Ghz) however I am not sure how the rest of the hardware will work under Linux. Webcam, etc.

do not have experience with this particular model but never had any trouble with two other toshiba and pclinuxos.
if you can run a test on the shop with pclinuxos live cd...

My toshiba satellite A205 works perfectly with PCLinuxOS. But there are so many changes between models, you have to test with the livecd.

Try running a Live CD of PCLOS and see how it works. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I have been running PCLOS on my Toshiba A305d since 2008. Had a probs initially with Wi-Fi but now works "out of the box" since PCLOS 2009. Otherwise, pretty much all good. CPU Cooling / Power Scaling issues seem to be a constant problem though with Toshiba and Linux for some reason. Still looking for a solution for that. I have had to maintain this as a dual-boot PCLOS/Windohs only because of this issue. I use PCLOS for about 98 % of my computer work, but if I do any intense multimedia work, I usually do it on Windohs, which seems to manage the CPU better. Linux, however, manages RAM, disk usage, etc much better. Good luck!  |

the question is not oriented to parts like wifi, it is oriented to the cpu and the gpu integrated in it, new models manufactured by amd, reports of models not using this new hardware won't help JustSomebody

No it was NOT limited to CPU questions, and if you read, I addressed that too.

PCLinuxOS Works ok on this Toshiba P305D, just be careful of this unit, has battery problems.... |

Cannot comment on new models or AMD cpu but 2 installs have been problematic regarding graphics on a Toshiba SatA305 and more recently a Toshiba Sat C655 . See my post in laptop hdwr regarding Intel video and xorg problems.
Toshiba Sat A305 - Intel Mobile 4 graphics - random xserver crashes has not been resolved.
Just loaded PCLOS 2011.6 on to Toshiba Sat C655 and incorrect screen res was selected during install. Fixed in KDE control center but I think there is an issue w/ some Intel Mobile 4 graphics chipsets.
Others indicate using LiveCD, but I had no problems until after installation so not so sure if running a LiveCd will tell the whole story.

Using a ATI 5730 right now and it works just about flawlessly. + a bunch more here... I'll take ATI over any Intel graphics any time. |

i would be worried for the video card, if system can't see it or work in vesa mode, that would be terrible
it seems that the module dkms-fusion handles that, it was recently added to repos
about web cam, that is a hit and miss this days
card reader is probable that will work fine, there is tons of workarounds for it on the forum
