Wow if this is final and PCLinuxOS will have a 64bit version with all its packages, it is definitely gonna jump up from my Top 5 to Top 1.   Smiley

Hope this version will finally let me run PCLOS once again... I've been out since Christmas 2010 after the new build. (Specs in signature) I can install but because my SSD connected to sata 3 is my boot drive and not my 320 sata 2 install doesn't see it, So the install won't let me put the boot files to my SSD. So after install I don't get the Boot menu that I should.  Cry Cry Cry

I think there are still some gaps in the repo - Apache isn't complete, no lomanager, no tunctl, no audacity. Maybe there is a problem compiling some of these for 64 bit. With only one section Synaptic is really fast though.

Kwin works on my desktop, but not on my laptop (mobile 4 Intel graphics - complains GLX is missing) in 64 bit. Both work in 32, so something's not quite right there, but it is shaping up nicely.

64bit is barely more than half full. It is inevitable that there would be "gaps."

The repositories may not be full yet Neal; but I prefer the performance of the 64 bit version, over of the 32 bit version. The 64 bit test one version is running sweet as a nut on my computer and it's fully up to date.

At present, I'm posting using the 64 bit test 3 Live CD and that is running smoothly too.

I am sure that the 64bit has some performance advantages. But, if the boot up on the livecd is faster, it is likely because Tex used e4rat to align the boot up programs on the cd. (Unless he changed it back. Undecided) If that is the case, the next 32bit version will be faster on bootup, also.
