I love to read.  I love to hold a book even if I am not reading it.  Tongue Some of my favorite books are those I either read as a child or have read to my own kids and students. Children's books provide so many opportunities for learning and so many thought provoking ideas for growth.  Best of all they have such wonderful characters.

Since belonging to this forum I have found so many members remind me of book characters.......or is it book characters remind me of members?  Same thing I guess.  Tongue

So I have decided to share some of my findings.  I have been advised by my lawyer not to reveal the said member that a book character reminds me of. And it could be that several members might fit the description.  If you respond to one of the descriptions, do so at your own peril.  And feel free to add a book of your own, but only after getting legal advise.  Grin

Where the Wild Things Are just sets the scene.  It doesn't remind me of anybody in particular in the forum but everybody in general.  We come to the forum to be understood and loved.  Kiss

Alice in Wonderland   Alice falls down the rabbit hole and has the strangest adventures.
A certain little ms_ fell down the internet and landed in the forum.  Smiley Here she met some of the most curious characters and has learned and is still learning some amazing things.

Harold and the Purple Crayon  Harold goes for a walk and only has a purple crayon. Letting his imagination run freely, he creates beauty and excitement. Just when he finds himself in deep water, he uses the crayon and saves himself.

Just when you think there is not one more thing to write about PCLinuxOS, this member imagines the unimaginable every month. And just when the dead line nears, he uses his purple cyber crayon and tells us in a brand new way that PCLinuxOS is the best of all.   Cheesy

Off to read some more books and find more of my favorite characters.  Grin

Bark George   George's mother tells her son to bark. Instead he meows, quacks, oinks and moos.

Another one of my favorite forum characters can also bark, meow, quack, oink and moo. He can post on about any subject that is brought up.  He not only can...but he does!   Grin
And he recently did it 6000 times!!!!!!!

ms_meme,

Those are all excellent children's books! I remember a children's literature class I took back when I was in college. It was one of my favorite classes (and a lot more difficult than you might think!).

Back when I was in the elementary school, in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, I **really** loved the Encyclopedia Brown: Boy Detective" books and the Danny Dunn books.

parnote

Encyclopedia Brown - hmmm - reminds me of forum characters who post links to everything on the internet.  Grin  And I thank them for doing it too.  Wink

The Chronicles of Narnia.

Lots of Lions in the Forum.  I am probably the Witch.  Sad

(I changed the title of the topic a wee bit.  Grin  )

Shall I then remove my post, since it no longer fits the topic?

parnote

No, I'm the good witch.  Grin  I will probably just take everybody's suggestion and turn it inside out.  Wink

The Cat in the Hat A mysterious cat arrives to enchant some bored children.

There's only one character in the forum that wears THE HAT. And he has delighted and thrilled us with his imagination and ideas for many years. And our hats go off to him.  Grin

Curious George   George is a hero that everyone can identify with. Always getting into trouble because of his curiosity, but always making amends for it.

This forum character is comfortable and welcome in every topic of the forum. His adventures leave us laughing and wanting more and more. We are always the ones curious as to what he will do next.  We are always COUNTING on him to COUNT us.  Grin

I apologize if it is thought that responses shouldn't be made here.  But no matter.  Just enjoy the books.  I agree with a comment parnote said about taking a course of kitty lit in school.  I did the same and it was difficult.  The only difference in my course and his was probably 20 years.  So many of the good children's books were written after my course.  Sad

George and Martha are two hippos that are best friends.  You can even buy stuffed animals of the characters.

I think I've noticed a stuffed hippo here in the forum.  Cheesy  And of course we all consider him and his little jr our best friends.  Smiley

Chicken Little    This Messenger of Doom is always wailing that "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

The story unfolds a bit differently in the forum.  The character wails, "Google+ is Falling! Google+ is Falling!"
We love our little Rooster.  Wink

Someone noted that my topic disappeared from the Sandbox.  Well, in fact it did. Poof!  But that will all be explained later.  Meanwhile I invite you to post here about books, bacon or anything else that bothers you.  Topics about books are my very favorite.  And there can never be enough of them.  Never enough books and never enough topics.  Tongue

And here is the book that explains just why topics disappear Sad

Tawny Scrawny Lion   A Lion goes around eating and devouring the animal population and frightening everybody.  The residents then fool the Lion into eating vegetables and everything turns out OK.  Smiley

We seem to have a whole pride of Tawny Scrawny Lions here in the forum. They sneak around stealth-fully devouring and swallowing and grabbing and consuming (aka deleting ) our posts.

Except they gobble up the ones they don't like and leave the ones they do like.  Time to be afraid....very afraid.
This post was regurgitated  Shocked  and everything turned out OK.  Wink

When a Dragon Moves In     A little boy tells his parents of his adventures with a dragon. When they don't believe him, the dragon really does start to cause trouble.  Shocked

My little trouble maker dragon has lived in the forum for quite a while. I think he was/is from South America.  Do you know my forum character that tries to cause the most mischief here?  And don't everybody volunteer that you think it's yourself.  Cheesy
